The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition and the HTC One Google Play Edition are reportedly receiving the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (over-the-air) OTA software update. Its just been a week since the latest version of Android was officially announced and started rolling out to the Nexus devices.
In fact many of the Nexus devices are still waiting to receive the update, which shows that the Google Play Edition handsets are more or less in par with the Nexus handsets in receiving updates.
Being among the first to receive Android updates are one of the main advantages of getting the Google Play Edition devices, and it is good to see that Samsung and HTC have been quick to update their handsets with the latest version of Android.
Android 4.3 is not a major update to the platform, but it brings some useful features like restricted user profiles (only on tablets), Bluetooth Low Energy profile, virtual surround sound, autocomplete for dialpad, improved keyboard and OpenGL ES 3.0 support.
Over and above these features, the Android 4.3 update enables Bluetooth tethering on the Galaxy S4 and the IR port on the One.
