Google Nexus 4 discounted by $100, costs only $199 on Google Play

The Google Nexus 4 was already offered one of the best deals as an unlocked handset costing just $299 without the requirement of  a contract. Now Google has discounted their flagship smartphone by $100, which means the 8GB version of the Nexus 4 costs only $199 on Google Play. If you want the 16GB variant it will cost you only $249.

This deal is not restricted to the US as Google has confirmed that the Nexus for will be "25% off or more in Australia, Canada, Germany, Spain, Korea, US, and UK."

Keep in mind that the Nexus 4 doesn't officially support LTE, but as a Nexus handset it runs the latest version of Google's Android mobile platform. Despite being nearly a year old its 4.7 inch HD touch display, an 8 megapixel camera capable of 1080p HD video capture and quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, make it definitely relevant.

In case you just purchased the Nexus 4 before the price drop you maybe eligible for a $100 refund.  If you purchased a Nexus 4 after August 12th, you have until September 10th to file for a refund. And,you must manually submit for a refund, Google will not automatically be giving you money back. If you purchased a Nexus 4 recently, just head to the Google Price Protection for Devices page to submit your refund request.

The price drop is likely in favor of the upcoming Google Nexus 5 which is rumored to come from either LG or Motorola. The new Nexus should arrive sometime in October or November based on Google's past schedules and will likely take over the Nexus 4's former pricing.

Do you want to pounce at the recently discounted Nexus 4? Or do you prefer looking forward toward the release of the Nexus 5 later this year?
