[Windows Phone app] Nokia Chat (beta) now available worldwide


Nokia Chat for Windows Phone is a messaging service powered by Yahoo available across Nokia's Lumia, Symbian,  Asha and Series 40 devices. It allows Nokia users to interact among each other and with Yahoo! Messenger users around the world. The service will initially launched only in a few countries, but has now been extended worldwide.

You will require a Nokia account in order to download the application to your device. You can sign into the device with either your Nokia account or Yahoo account. You additionally get features like push notifications and live tile updates.

Nokia Chat for Windows Phone has the following features:
  • Person to Person Messaging: Reach millions of Nokia Chat and Yahoo! Messenger users across different mobile and computer platforms.
  • Push Notifications and Live Tile Updates: Receive new message notifications, preview new messages, and see how many notifications you’ve received - even when Nokia Chat isn't running. 
  • Share a Place: Send information about a restaurant, store, or other point of interest.  
  • Find Contacts: Scan your phone's address book to find friends and family who already use Nokia Chat and Yahoo! Messenger.
  • And if you're a Nokia Lumia with Windows Phone 8, you can take advantage of:
  • Tap+Send (NFC) Between Lumia Phones: Send your chat address, the details of anyone on your chat contact list, and Nokia Chat itself to another NFC-equipped Lumia.
