The Microsoft Surface RT is not the cheapest tablet in the market, but its going to get a whole lot cheaper if you are a student. The information was first leaked and then removed. which stated that Microsoft would be offering their home made tablet at heavily discounted prices to educational institutions across a wide range of territories.

The newest information suggests that the promotion will kick off on June 24th and will close on August 31st. Several configurations will be up for grabs and will include the Touch and Type keyboard. For example the entry level 32GB Surface RT will cost $199 compared to its $499 retail price. Including the Touch keyboard will cost $249 while the Type Cover will set you back $289.

The offer is open to students in United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Finland, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Korea, Japan, Mexico, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Norway, Singapore, Russia, Sweden, Spain, and Switzerland. The offer will only last while Microsoft has supplies in stock, so be sure to keep your eye on the deal while it lasts. Microsoft aims to put the tablet in the hands of students who are heavily invested in the Apple iPad, and this discount offers students in K12 through to college and university a great chance at it.
