Follow its announcements at WWDC 2013, Apple has released the first Developer Preview of Apple OS X 10.9 Mavericks. The update is only available to developers registered in Apple's OS X Developer Program. The update brings several features and improvements and great compatibility with iOS 7.0 which was also announced today.
Mavericks continues the trend of OS X releases in recent history by adopting features of iOS. Calendar has been updated to match the flattened UI of iOS, while iBooks and Maps from iOS has now been introduced to Mac. Apple also introduced new features like KeyChain which will help users remember their passwords across iOS and Macs and updates to Safari which make it easier to use than ever before.
If you are a registered developer you can head over to the Apple MacDev Center and download the OS X Mavericks Developer Preview today. Do you think OS X 10.9 is worth upgrading to? Or are you happy to stick with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion? We think Apple needs to start offering free updates if they are going to release a version of OS X every year especially since Apple hardware costs so much.
