Microsoft Surface tablets receive software update

Microsoft is currently releasing a software update for its Microsoft Surface RT and Microsoft Surface Pro. The update should take around 10 minutes to install and is being sent out (OTA) over the air. You can manually download the update by going from PC Settings to Settings to Change PC Settings. Under PC Settings, click on Windows Update and then Check for Updates.

The Surface RT update will fix a bug that limits connectivity and improves the tablet's Wi-Fi to allow it to connect to a number of access points. The update also fixes a problem with its Wi-Fi which caused the tablet to crash.

The update for the Surface Pro fixes a problem with the screen touch navigation in the UEFI boot menu. It also fixes a problem that Microsoft Surface Pro tablets have had with their Touch Cover and Type Cover connectivity. If you live in North America, the updatw will also add 106/109 keyboard support to the tablet. The update will also fix a problem which allowed the Wi-Fi driver to be disabled when the Airplane mode was toggled.
