The Sony Xperia TL for AT&T is now receiving the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software update. The Xperia TL features a 4.5 inch touch screen, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 13 megapixel camera capable of 1080p HD video capture, a secondary HD camera for video calls and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM.
Users will receive a notification when the update is available for your devices at which point you can initiate the download. If you haven't received the notification you can manually check for the update by heading to Applications > Settings > About phone > Software update and following the onscreen directions.
Along with the enhancements like the Google Now digital assistant, the performance improvements of Project Butter and the expandable notifications, AT&T will also include DriveMode, which is an “app that helps curb texting and driving”. Drive Mode allows AT&T customers to set a customizable reply for incoming messages that are sent out automatically once a vehicle hits 25 miles per hour.
Press Release
Jelly Bean Update Now Available for Sony Xperia TL
Beginning March 12, customers with a Sony Xperia™ TL will be able to download the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for their smartphones.
The latest version of Android software, Jelly Bean makes your smartphone easier to use through several enhancements, including changes to the notification display that group updates from the same application together, and allow you to expand or collapse notifications. Customers will also be able to view the full text of an SMS message and the full photo of a MMS in the notification window. Additionally, event notifications display more of the event description to let you quickly see relevant details without having to open the app, and you can even snooze or dismiss an individual event from within the notification.
To help customers better manage their data consumption, the Jelly Bean update adds a data usage calculator that allows you to set a limit on your data usage each month.
Xperia TL customers will notice a new enhanced camera interface with Superior Auto mode, that automatically selects the best settings to use when taking a photo, and new HDR capabilities which takes three pictures in different light conditions and combines them into one photo for the best result.
You will also be able to better manage your battery life with an improved power management feature.
Xperia TL customers will now have access to AT&T DriveMode®, an app that helps curb texting and driving. The app can be set-up to automatically send a customizable reply to incoming messages once a vehicle starts moving 25 mph. The auto-reply message is similar to an “out-of-office alert” and can reply to texts, emails and wireless callers letting your friends know that you are driving and unable to respond.*
The update process is simple. On your Xperia TL device while connected to Wi-Fi, select ‘Applications’, ‘Settings’, ‘About phone’ and ‘Software update’, then follow the on-screen instructions.
We’re looking forward to rolling out Jelly Bean on more devices in the coming months, so stay tuned!
