Google shuts down YouTube

Google is getting set to shutdown YouTube, nearly 8 years after the service was first launched. Google says that the service had a goal set to find the greatest video of all time and it will choose the winning video tomorrow at midnight before bidding farewell to its users.

Google has even setup a YouTube live stream ready to air tomorrow at midnight EST (9PM PST) where the wining video will be announced. Which video do you think will be selected as the best of them all.

Obviously if you are still reading you may not have figured out that this is just another one of the search company’s April fool pranks and we have to admit it is one of its better ones. Anyone remember Google Paper, where the company claimed to give you a paper record of all your emails.

In any case it looks like Google is going to see this prank to the end, so tune in and find out what happens.
