The Google Galaxy Nexus for Verizon is finally receiving the Android 4.2.2 software update. Despite being a Nexus device which is first in line for Android updates, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus will likely remain on Android 4.2.2 for the foreseeable future even though Android 5.0 maybe just around the corner.
The Galaxy Nexus which is manufactured by Samsung features a 4.65 inch touch display with a 720 by 1280 pixel resolution, up to 32GB of internal storage, a 5 megapixel camera capable of 1080p HD video capture and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM. Unlike the recently released Google Nexus 4 the Galaxy Nexus for Verizon comes with full 4G LTE compatibility on Verizon’s network.
There have been rumors that the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update was being tested on the Galaxy Nexus since February, and it was expected to be released by mid-February. However it turned out that Verizon needed an additional month before they would finally sign off on the update which is now rolling out to device owners.
Once the device is available for your device you will receive an update notification, at which point you can download and install the Android 4.2.2 update (OTA) over the air. Make sure your device is fully charged and that you are connected to your Wi-Fi before you initiate the update to save data costs.
The Android 4.2 update brings features like the new gesture keyboard and various improvements to the camera like Photosphere and filters.
