Recent speculations have been suggesting that Samsung will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chip instead of their own Samsung Exynos 5 Octa in their upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV. This report has been further confirmed by a new source who also has cited overheating as the reason that the manufacturer chose to Qualcomm’s chip instead of their own.
Devices like the HTC One and the LG Optimus G Pro already feature 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processors. But the Galaxy S IV is expected to run a slightly faster 1.9GHz clock speed. Additionally the device is expected to arrive in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants and have 2GB of RAM. The source also claims that the Galaxy S IV will have 140.1 x 71.8 x 7.7mm dimensions and that it will weight 138 grams.
Additionally the device is not expected to feature the rounded edges from the Samsung Galaxy S III and instead is expected to have a more squared off design. This design is in line with the leaked photos of cases. The source has also claimed that the device will be available in black or white and will have aluminium sides with a plastic back.
Samsung is also expected to choose Full-HD SoLux Display which is probably based on LCD 3 like the HTC One. Samsung is reported to have problems manufacturing full HD AMOLED displays, which has let them to choose LCD panels instead.
The report has also shared a photo which claims to show the boot screen of the upcoming Galaxy S IV.
To sum things up the Samsung Galaxy S IV will feature a 4.99 inch FHD SoLux display, up to 64GB of internal storage, a 13 megapixel camera, a removable battery and will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB of RAM.
