Nokia Lumia 710 for T-Mobile wont receive the Windows Phone 7.8 update

Nokia has started rolling out its Windows Phone 7.8 software update to its users, but there is some bad news for the Nokia 710 on T-Mobile. The carrier has decided not to offer the new software update to its users.

Windows Phone 7.8 is an update to Windows Phone 7.x users which brings the resizable live tiles to the Windows Phone platform along with a few improvements and enhancements. While the update is very small compared to Windows Phone 8 it is still disappointing that the carrier has chosen not to offer the update to their users.

The Lumia 710 is a middle range smartphone which features a 3.7-inch ClearBlack WVGA touch display, 5 megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video and is powered by a 1.4 GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM.

The news comes from T-Mobile’s customer service and  states as follows:
“In response to your concern, we understand that you want to confirm if the Windows Phone 7.8 will be available for Nokia Lumia 710 from T-Mobile. We are sorry to inform you that there are a small number of operators that have chosen not to offer the update to their users.
It is important to recognize that this decision was made solely by the operator and these include the T-Mobile network in the United States.”
Strangely the Windows Phone 7.8 update is already available for the Nokia Lumia 710 for T-Mobile (RM-809) on Navifirm. This means you can use our guide on how to install the Windows Phone 7.8 on your Lumia device and install the update unofficially. Keep in mind that because T-Mobile doesn't support the update you wont be able to take your device over to them for repairs if you end up bricking it so proceed at your own risk.
