Best Nokia phones of 2012

Nokia has had a somewhat hard past year as they have transitioned between Symbian, Windows Phone 7 and most recently Windows Phone 8. However the company has delivered some exciting and innovative devices which we have loved and the following article will take a look at the top three devices of 2012.

Nokia 808 PureView

The Nokia 808 PureView could very like go down in history as the company’s last Symbian device. It was first officially unveiled at the MWC 2012 and went on to win Best of Show. The 808 PureView features a 4.0 inch touch display with Gorilla Glass protection, a 41 megapixel camera which is capable of capturing 1080p full HD video, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD,  and is powered by a 1.3 GHz processor with 512MB RAM. What's most impressive about the device is its amazing camera which uses pixel oversampling to produce truly amazing photos.

Nokia Lumia 900

The Nokia Lumia 900 took over as the first flagship Windows Phone device from the company and was also introduced at WMC 2012. It features a 4.3 inch touch display, an 8 megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video capture and is powered by a 1.4 GHz processor. Nokia included 4G LTE connectivity in the Lumia 900 for AT&T but its flagship position was short-lived when Microsoft decided not to upgrade their Windows Phone 7 platform to the much more capable Windows Phone 8. However the Lumia 900 was recognized as the Best of CES 2012 for its innovative design and performance.

Nokia Lumia 920

The Nokia Lumia 920 is the current flagship of Nokia and a truly exceptional device. It features a 4.5 inch PureMotion HD+ touch display, up to 32GB of internal storage, an 8 megapixel PureView camera capable of 1080p HD video capture, a secondary camera for video calls and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. Its PureView camera features a floating lens technology which allows the device to capture amazing low light and shake-free photos. Additionally Nokia introduced Qi-based wireless charging and an ultra sensitive display which can be used while wearing gloves. The multi-award winning Lumia 920 has even been dubbed the ‘world’s most innovative smartphone’ which doesn’t surprise us much and was recognized by DJ’s Mobiles as the top smartphone for 2012.

Now as we get set to welcome 2013, we cant help but wonder what Nokia has in store for us. Our ideal device would combine the pixel oversampling of PureView Phase 1 on the 808 PureView with the floating lens optical image stabilization of PureView Phase 2 on the Lumia 920. Do you agree? Leave us your thoughts below.
