Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 receiving software update in US and Canada



The Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820 are available in the U.S. through AT&T and in Canada through Rogers  The devices have been around for some time now and they are getting ready to receive their first software update (1232.5951.1249.0001) which promises new features and improvements.

The software update to the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 will bring the following new features:
  • Enhancements in Messaging
  • More efficient and reliable Bluetooth connectivity
  • More efficient and reliable start-up sequence
  • Enhancements in imaging performance and battery management
  • Additional platform updates and enhancements
You can get the update directly on your device over-the-air (OTA) and you will receive a prompt when the update is available for your device. You can also manually check for the update by heading over to Settings > Phone Update > Check For Updates on your device.

Before updating your device make sure your battery is fully charged and that you are connected to a Wi-Fi connection to avoid unnecessary data charges. The entire update process can take up to 30 minutes to complete.

According to Nokia, many of the improvements in the update are made based on feedback received by users in Nokia’s social networks and forums. While the update will initially be available only in the U.S. and Canada, Nokia has promised that it will be available for the globally very soon.
