Here’s why the Nokia Lumia 920 is the best smartphone in the market right now

If you are looking to purchase a new smartphone you are bombarded with choices. Not all these choices may necessarily be the right choices for you. The Apple iPhone 5 would definitely be a hot favorite or you may have your eye on a Samsung Galaxy S III or another high end Android device. These are good devices in their own right, but I am going to tell you why the Nokia Lumia 920 is currently the best smartphone in the market.

I have already covered five reasons you should switch to the Lumia 920 and then went on to share five more reasons to choose the Lumia 920 as your next smartphone. But what makes the Lumia 920 better than its competitors?

1. Personalization – The Lumia 920 comes in an array of colors and you can buy one to match your personal preference. If you live in the U.S. you can purchase the Lumia 920 from AT&T in pink, white, red, black or cyan and the device is also available in Yellow and Gray. Once you purchase your favorite color you can choose a live tile theme to match your preference and arrange the tiles in a way that you are comfortable with. It doesn’t end there. The Lumia 920 even supports a variety of accessories that share the same array of colors and personalization making each Lumia owners experience personal.

Microsoft said that Windows Phone was built around ‘You’ the user and it is definitely true with the Lumia 920.

[WHAT MAKES IT BETTER] Phones came in various shapes and sizes before Apple released their first iPhone. ever since we have seen block after block in black and white with grids and grids of icons. You may purchase colorful cases to personalize your iPhone, but that defeats the purpose of buying a thin device. Android is customizable with widgets, but most of them hog the battery and are rarely used.

2. Camera – The Lumia 920 features a 8.7 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and Nokia’s PureView Phase 2 which has a 2.0 aperture. Nokia has also included a short pulse high power dual LED flash which performs much better than the regular LED flash on camera phones.

Nokia has implemented a floating lens technology on the Lumia 920 where the camera is suspended using springs for optical image stabilization. So if you are taking a photo or capturing video from a moving car or bike or even when you are walking the camera doesn’t shake. With the Lumia 920 you don’t have to worry about your hands being shaky anymore. The floating lens which is a part of PureView makes sure that you take amazing photos and video.

The other great feature of the Lumia 920 is that it performs amazingly well in low light thanks to its large 2.0 aperture and BSI (backside illuminated) sensor. Taking low light shots is quite common and regular smartphone cameras do very little to help us here. The Lumia 920 performs amazingly well and even picks up detail which our own eyes would miss in low light.

[WHAT MAKES IT BETTER] Other cameras have the required specifications but aren’t able to compete with the Lumia 920. While Apple has done a great job with the iPhone camera, it still doesn’t offer optical image stabilization or the powerful flash you will only find on the Lumia 920. The Lumia 920 definitely offers the best camera in the smartphone market with the iPhone coming in second place and the others left far behind in the dust.

3. Display – Nokia has introduced several technology improvements to their to make it one of the best in the market. Firstly it has a 4.5 inch HD display with a 1280 x 768 pixel resolution. That’s a higher resolution that the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S III. Even though the Galaxy S III display size is bigger. This results in crisp content on your screen allowing you to enjoy your movies, games and pictures better.

Nokia has taken it one step further and introduced ClearBlack technology to the display which makes the blacks seem blacker and offers an even nicer experience. What’s more, the ClearBlack display allows you to view your device even under direct sunlight, which is generally a problem on most smartphones.

Nokia hasn’t forgotten those who live in colder climates. The display on the Lumia 920 is super sensitive and can be used with your gloves on. If you have your gloves on in a cold windy night, you no longer have to fumble and remove them if you want to make a call.

To top it all off the display is made of ultra durable Gorilla Glass and you don’t have to worry about scratching your device if you don’t have a protective screen or cover.

[WHAT MAKES IT BETTER] Nokia has put a lot of thought into their display. It works for users in tropical climates and for users in cold climates. Other devices may not offer the same performance under direct sunlight and no other device offers the Super sensitive touchscreen which can be used with your gloves on. Try your iPhone or GSIII next time you are out during winter and you will see why the Lumia 920 needs to be in your pocket instead.

4. Durability – Nokia has built the Lumia 920 like a tank. It is capable of taking just about any punishment you can throw at it. While the Lumia 920 looks colorful and cheerful its polycarbonate body wont dent or scratch like other devices. Its body is built to last the wear and tear of time and will look new even after several months of use.

When we told you about the display we mentioned that it is made of Gorilla Glass, which has proven over the years to be the top choice for many manufacturer’s to protect their displays.
Nokia has even paid attention to the smaller details like the camera decorations and the device keys, which are made of ceramic zirconium to ensure they don’t get scratched or collect dirt…

[WHAT MAKES IT BETTER] You don’t have to hide your Lumia 920 behind expensive protective covers because the Lumia 920 is the protective cover. Other manufacturers may claim their devices are thinner and lighter, but they wont last too long against the wear and tear of our day to day lives unless we pack them into casings and covers to keep them safe. The Lumia 920 is built to last unlike its competitors.

5. Nokia Apps – Several manufacturers customize their phone’s end experience, but nothing beats Nokia’s offerings. Nokia apps are useful and add to an already great Windows Phone experience.

With your Lumia 920 you get Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, Public Transport and Nokia City Lens. Nokia Maps is designed for the urban explorer. It helps you to discover new places and get there with super-reliable walking directions. Nokia Drive is especially designed for car drivers, and guides you with voice navigation. You can even download maps and use them offline. Nokia Public Transport gets transport schedules for 514 cities. See all connections between transport modes. Nokia City Lens uses your phone’s camera to get a real view of what’s nearby. Get more info about the places right around you and find your way there with just one tap.

Additionally you have Nokia Music which lets you choose from its 20 million song catalogue or enjoy your own tuned. The app will even find cool gigs close to you and wont bother you with annoying ads.
These are just some of the features and we will soon see on your Nokia Lumia device and we can expect camera enhancements and other apps to follow soon.

[WHAT MAKES IT BETTER] While Microsoft takes care of the essential apps on your device, Nokia brings added value to make Windows Phones better. Nokia apps aren’t simple customization, but are value added solutions.

6. The Windows Experience – One of the best features on the Lumia 920 is its connection to the Windows ecosystem. Your Windows Phone 8 device comes with Xbox Music and Xbox video, two services which are a part of your Windows PC or Xbox. Xbox Music allows you to listen to millions of songs on your device for free and you can easily purchase a Xbox Music pass for unlimited access to the catalogue across all your devices.

It also includes 7GB of free cloud storage on the SkyDrive, which could be 25GB if you have been a long time SkyDrive user. If the free storage is not enough you can always opt to purchase more. SkyDrive keeps all your data in sync and your photos captured on your Lumia 920 will be available on your PC, Laptop or tablet almost immediately.

Microsoft has also included Office 2013 mobile for free as part of Windows Phone 8. This means you can quickly view or edit your documents, notes, excel spreadsheets or presentations on your Lumia 920 without a PC. Your edited documents can be synced and saved on the SkyDrive and accessed by a colleague at work for collaboration. Documents can be edited on your Lumia 920 or across any Windows enabled device.

[WHAT MAKES IT BETTER] If you want to edit documents on your iPhone, you will have to purchase the iWork Suite for iOS which can cost you nearly $30. iWorks is only available on Macs and you cant edit it with Microsoft Office on your Windows PCs. There are cheaper office solutions for iOS and Android, but with Office 2013 available for free for the Lumia 920 why would you consider alternates.

The iPhone captures images which are shared through iCloud, but you are limited to the number of photos you can save. SkyDrive allows you to save as many photos as you want on your device. Android users have to rely on Google Photos if they want them to appear on your gallery. You can upload your photos to various cloud based services, but it requires you to open each service to view photos separately. Photos you capture and upload on your Lumia 920 to various social networks or SkyDrive are all available through the Photos app.

700-nokia-wireless-charging-plate-dt-900-with-nokia-lumia-9207. Wireless Charging – The Nokia Lumia 920 has Qi-based wireless charging inside. Which means your device will start charging as soon as it is placed on the wireless charging pad. If you purchase the Lumia 920 the charging pad will be given to your at no extra charge. No more stumbling and searching for wires. Just place the Lumia 920 on the charging pad, and it will start charging.

[WHAT MAKES IT BETTER] Wireless charging will eventually be available on all smartphones. The Google Nexus 4 was recently released with wireless charging built in and Apple is planning on offering it on future iPhones. The Lumia 920 has it now, its built into the device and you can get the charger for free.

The Lumia 920 features NFC (Near Field Communication) which allows you to tap and share data or pair your device with an accessory. It is also powered by the latest dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor which results in smooth fluid performance.  The Lumia 920 comes with 32GB of storage which is much more than other manufacturers offer for their base models.

But the best feature of all Lumia 920 features is its price. If you live in the U.S. you can get this amazing smartphone for just $99 on contract, which is cheaper than the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S III which costs $199. If you want to get the device contract free it costs only $450. This is a great deal on the 4.5 inch PureMotion HD+ touch display, up to 32GB of internal storage, an 8 megapixel PureView camera capable of 1080p HD video capture, a secondary camera for video calls and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor.
