A couple of months ago Google released the Google Calendar app on the Google Play Store allowing non Nexus users to download the app to their devices. Today Google has released an update to the Google Calendar making it easier to interact with calendar item information and create events.
You can download the update directly on your supported device through the Google Play Store or by using the link which follows:
One of the new features is the ability to initiate a call directly from the Google Calendar, the other is the ability to open an address in Google Maps. This type is integration feels essential and its great that Google has added it to their calendar app. The app also offers suggestions for you when you are creating an event and has a quick event creating option in the month view.
Now that the Calendar app is available through the Play Store and not tied to the core Android system, we hope to see several updates released to make the app experience great.
The only downside is that Google Calendar for Android is only available for devices running Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich or higher, so if you have Gingerbread on your device you are out of luck.
