Microsoft Surface owners having sound issues; Touch Cover to blame ?

The Microsoft Surface RT has been around for a few weeks now and the initial response for the device has been positive. The device has a solid sturdy build, good battery life and even the less than grand collection of apps on Windows RT hasn’t put people off from buying this product.

However it looks like some of the units may be affected by an audio issue which has not quite been resolved

A number of Microsoft Surface owners have taken to the Microsoft Answers page to report – “The tablet’s sound output gets muted for no obvious reason”. The issue can be resolved by pressing the volume button which sets the volume back to its previous level, but the audio is muted again either randomly or after the device is turned back on from sleep mode.

Microsoft representatives have suggested several solutions which don’t seam to have helped. But it seams like the issue could be related to the Touch Cover which comes with the device.
I have this issue on my 32GB RT. I have Skype running on the background with touch cover. It auto mutes even if I have the cover in type mode or folded back. I haven't tested it without the cover. The frequency at which it happens also varies but based on observation, it happened more often when the touch cover was folded back.
Does anyone who owns the Microsoft Surface face this issue? If you do, drop us a comment below.
