Microsoft officially announces Surface Pro pricing and release dates

While the Microsoft Surface RT continues to try and make a name for itself in the tablet market, Microsoft has revealed the pricing details of the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro. The Surface Pro features a 10.6-inch full HD touch display, up to 128GB of internal storage, and is powered by Intel Core i5 Ivy Bridge processor.

Unlike the Surface RT which has limited apps in the Windows Store, the the Surface Pro runs Windows 8 Pro, which will give it full access to all Windows apps. The Surface Pro will be available starting January in a 64GB variant which will cost $899 and a 128GB version which will set you back $999.

Both devices will include the Surface Pen, which can be used to taking notes along with other digital interaction. The Touch Cover or Type cover will be available as optional extras which will have to be purchased separately. We feel that Microsoft should have considering including the keyboard covers with the Surface pricing to help boost sales of the tablet.

Microsoft was recently reported to be cutting orders by half on the Surface RT, which indicated that the Surface Pro may be released soon and it looks like that has become a reality. The Surface Pro makes up for all the Surface RT’s shortcomings and despite is somewhat steep price, you are giving some very healthy features including a 1920 x 1080 pixel full HD resolution, a full-size USB 3.0 port and a powerful Core i5 processor which basically means you will be carrying a full PC in your hands.

The Surface Pro hopes to content with the MacBook Air and Ultrabooks instead of with mobile OS running tablets like the Apple iPad.
