The Sony Xperia Tablet S was first launched in the US on September 7th, with subsequent releases in Europe, Japan and other locations. The water resistant tablet was then pulled last last month when a manufacturing fault was discovered, where water could enter the device through a gap between the display and the back of the unit.
Sales of the device were halted on the 100,000 units which had already been shipped and a free inspection was offered to everyone who had purchased the tablet. Any faulty units were either repaired or replaced.
It looks like Sony has repaired the problem and they are now ready to resume sales of the Xperia Tablet S by the middle of November. The Sony online store in the U.S. lists the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of the tablet as “Coming Soon” and you can submit your email address if you want to be notified when the device is available for purchase.
