HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE for Verizon set to receive first software update
Verizon first introduced the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE on July 5th at $149.99 with a two year contract. This mid-range smartphone features a 4 inch touch display, 8 megapixel camera which is capable of 1080p HD video capture, a secondary HD camera for video calls, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD and is powered by a dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM.
The device was recently reduced to $99.99 on contract with Verizon promising an update which would support Global Roaming on the device. While the carrier didn’t provide a time frame or details on the update at that time it looks like they may be getting set to release the update now.
The update will carry version 2.17.605.2 and will be 154.8MB in size. This will be the first update for the Droid Incredible 4G LTE and the support documents have already been listed on the carrier’s webpage. The update will indeed bring global roaming support in over 220 countries, however Verizon has still not specified which frequencies will be supported. We assume that the device will work on GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and UMTS 850/900/1900/2100 MHz networks since it uses a Qualcomm MSM8960 chipset.
The update also brings the Isis Mobile Wallet, which is a competitor to Google Wallet and used NFC to make mobile payments. Verizon’s Remote Diagnostic tool has also been included for troubleshooting, along with improved 4G LTE connectivity, improved transition between Wi-Fi and 4G networks, audio support for Tango video calling and an updated Visual Voice Mail.
Users should receive a notification when the update is available for your devices. Let us know of your experience with the new software once you receive it on your devices.
