Microsoft’s newest operating system, Windows 8 has been in development since back in 2009 and was first officially unveiled at CES 2011. Since then we have seen three variants (Developer Preview, Consumer Preview, Release Preview) of the operating system before it finally reached its Release to Manufacturing (RTM) phase.

Windows 8 brings several new features and improvements to the operating system. Along with greatly improving the overall performance, Microsoft has brought several new features including the Windows Store for apps, Internet Explorer 10, Cloud integration with SkyDrive, Improved Windows Explorer, new task manager, Easy Backups / Restore / Refresh and Xbox integration.
