Windows 8 Pro upgrade pricing revealed, $39.99 online or $69.99 in store
Microsoft has revealed the upgrade pricing of their upcoming Windows 8 and it looks like it may have been inspired by the $29.99 pricing of Apple OS X Mountain Lion.
You can get the Windows 8 Pro upgrade for $39.99 online or get the physical copy from the store for $69.99.
Microsoft is also running an offer for anyone who is thinking of getting a computer between now and the Windows 8 release. Whilst your PC will come with a copy of Windows 7, you will be able to get Windows 8 Pro for a low price of just $14.99
Remember that this is a limited time offer and you will have to get your copy before the 31st of January or you may end up having to pay much higher. Microsoft seams eager to get users onto the newest version of Windows which is probably the biggest overhaul of the operating system in a long time.
The offer will be available in 131 markets around the world, and users will be able to use and upgrade assistant to help them migrate to Windows 8, from an older version of Windows.
Users who are upgrading from Windows 7 will have the easiest transition, with all their files, settings and applications automatically transferred to the new OS. Windows Vista users will have to reinstall their applications and Windows XP users will only have their files transferred.
Users who opt for the online upgrade will be able to purchase a backup version for an additional $15.
Microsoft promises to share more information on the Windows 8 upgrade options as the launch day gets closer.
