Samsung Galaxy S II receives Android 4.1 Jelly Bean through unofficial port

The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is set roll out in July for Nexus devices, and will hopefully be available through other manufacturers soon after. Meanwhile developers are hard at work porting Jelly Bean over to popular modern handsets, and the is one of the devices to get a taste of things to come from Android 4.1

The Galaxy S II features up to 16GB of internal memory which can be expanded through microSD, an 8 megapixel camera capable of 1080p HD video recording, an additional 2 megapixel camera for video calls and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM.

[NOTE] Please do not proceed unless you are aware of the consequences of installing unofficial ROMs. The process can result in loss of data or device malfunction if now followed properly.

You can follow the instructions on how to install Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on your Samsung Galaxy S II, head over to XDA Developers for the details and download link for the ROM.

Meanwhile check out the Samsung Galaxy S II running Android 4.1 in the following video

Remember that several features may not be functional in this early version of the port. We do not recommend installing it on a device you use on a day to day basis.
