[Guide] How to install iOS 6 Beta 1 on a non developer device

Apple has released the first developer beta of iOS 6.0 and developers are required to pay the $99/year fee in order to try out the latest version of Apple’s mobile OS.

However some developers have found a way to install iOS 6 on any iOS device without the need of a registered UDID.

NOTE The following process of installing pre-release software without following the proper channels is not recommended. It may result in device malfunction or loss of data and will void your device or its warranty.

NOTE This guide is for informational purposes only. This website does not recommend trying this unless you are fully aware of the consequences.
  1. Download the corresponding iOS 6 restore file for your device.
  2. Connect your iOS device to your computer and take the necessary backups using iTunes.
  3. Open the device summary page in iTunes
    • Hold ‘alt’ key on Mac and select ‘Check for Update’.
    • Hold ‘Shift’ key and Windows and select ‘Check for Update’.
  4. When prompted browse and select the IPSW file you downloaded in Step 1
  5. Allow iTunes to restore iOS 6, reboot and you should have the latest version installed.
NOTE  If the process doesn’t work. Please restore your device back to iOS 5.1.1 or the latest stable version of iOS for your device.
