Nokia cancels Symbian Carla

For some time now, we have been ushered into a new era of Symbian updated which have been titled Anna and Belle which were expected to be followed by Carla and Donna.

But now it turns out that Nokia Belle FP2 maybe the last version of Symbian OS as it has been reported that Nokia Carla has been cancelled.

Nokia has still to confirm this report, but if its true this could be a result of the poor Symbian sales which have continued to plunge during the last quarter.

So does this mean we wont see any more updates to Symbian OS? Well we probably will. Nokia is known to continue improving their smartphone software even years after the device has been released. We may not see any major versions but we should see updates in the form of feature packs at least.

With Symbian Donna expected to bring support for HD displays and multi core processors, it would seam likely that future high end devices from the company will have to rely on the Windows Phone platform instead.

Do you guys think Nokia will cancel Nokia Carla and future major updates to Symbian? Or do you think this is just a rumor ? Share your thoughts in the comments section which follows.
