The Huawei Ascend P1 was first announced during CES 2012 alongside its ultra slim counterpart the Huawei Ascend P1 S. While the latter has still not been made available for purchase the Ascend P1 is now available for purchase in China for 2,999 yuan ($475).
Huawei has announced that the Ascend P1 will also be released in other markets including Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia in May. Latin America and Europe are expected to receive the device later in June.
The Ascend P1 features a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED touch display with a QHD resolution, an 8 megapixel camera with a backside-illuminated sensor and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor. The device runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and measures a mere 7.7 millimeters in thickness, making it one of the thinnest smartphones in the market today.
Currently there is no news on when the handset will be available in the U.S. market.
