This announcement comes just one day before the day the iPad 3 is expected to be announced, and Toshiba expects to steal some of Apple's thunder with their own offering.
The Excite 10 LE is expected to hold onto the crown of world's thinnest and lightest in it's range with it's 7.7mm (0.3 inch) thin frame and 535g (1.18 pounds) weight. The device will feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen display, 5MP camera, Wi-Fi and is powered by a 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM.
The Excite 10 LE is reported to be designed for "durability and style" with it's high quality magnesium alloy surface and scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass display with its anti-smudge coating. Even with such a small size it is reported to achieve 8 hours of battery life.
The tablet which runs Android 3.2 HoneyComb will cost $529.99 for it's 16GB variant and $599.99 for the 32GB model at launch.
But the question is how well will a dual-core tablet even with it's premium build compare against it's quad-core competition? Even though Toshiba is said to be working on Android 4.0 ICS, the reports of Google preparing Android 5.0 Jelly Bean for June make us question if it's too late for an Android HoneyComb tablet.
