Skype for Windows Phone - Beta testing starts in the coming weeks

The Windows Phone community is patiently waiting for a Skype client to be released on their platform. While we know a client is coming soon on the platform a release date has still to be revealed. A recent report however shows that Microsoft employees have been informed that invitations will be sent for a beta version of Skype in the next couple of weeks.

Microsoft employees will have the chance to test out the Skype client for Windows Phone before it is publicly made available through the Windows Phone Marketplace. Skype is expected to be deeply integrated into future versions of Windows and Windows Phone platforms. It seams that for now Microsoft is willing to release a stand-alone application allowing users to use the VOIP client on their Windows Phones.

Skype is available on almost all the desktop and mobile platforms but has been absent on Windows Phone since the company was purchase by Microsoft.
