RIM announced last month that they will be updating BlackBerry App World with version 3.1. It looks like the update is ready as the new version of App World has begun rolling out to Blackberry users who are receiving notifications to update their software.
The new version brings features like the ability to request an app as a gift from another BlackBerry user. You can also send a gift of an app to a fellow BlackBerry user. You can pay for the app through using PayPal or your Credit Card or choose to pay it through your carrier and the charge will be added to your monthly mobile bill.
The other new feature is the ability to rate certain apps. The rating system is based on CTIA's 'Guidelines for App content classification and rating'. While the default rating will be 'Adult' you can change the rating under My Account > Content Controls. You can choose between Adult, Mature, Teen or General.
Last but not least is that you can now access your App World Store through Wi-Fi. You can browse through, purchase and install apps even when you dont have a cellular signal.
