Samsung Droid Charge receives Android 2.3 Gingerbread software update


Samsung and Verizon are preparing Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the Samsung Droid Charge in time for the holidays. The upgrade is 115MB in size and will take the software to version i510.EP4 and will be available on your devices by November 29.

The Droid Charge features a 4.3-inch display, 8MP camera and powered by a 1GHz processor.

Some of the featured improvements in the firmware follows:

  • The Download Manager has been updated. You can use the download manager to manage your downloads from web browsing, emails and apps.
  • The copy/paste functionality has been improved for word selection.
  • New widgets, icons and screens with refreshed colors and part of Android OS improvements.
  • Device and SD card encryption has been added; VPN security has been enhanced.
  • Calendar options have been updated allowing you to view events in your home time zone when your are travelling. Individual reminders can now be dismissed.
  • Vibrate alert intensity has been improved.
  • Software upgrade assistant (SUA) has been added.
  • Volume of the low battery notification alert has been reduced.
