[Guide] How to Factory Reset / Wipe your Samsung Galaxy S II



The Samsung Galaxy S II features  a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED touch display, an 8 megapixel camera capable of capturing 1080p HD video and it's powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor.

This guide shows you how to factory reset / wipe the Galaxy S II (Samsung Epic 4G on Sprint).

This is not a process that needs to be performed regularly, but may prove useful if you want to install custom ROMs or if you get locked out of your device.

  1. Switch off your device
  2. Remove your microSD card (optional)
  3. Hold Volume Up + Power buttons simultaneously until the device logo is displayed.
  4. Now release Power button but continue holding Volume Up button until you see the Android Recovery Menu.
  5. Select Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
    • You can browse using the Volume Up / Volume Down buttons
    • You can make your selection using the Home button.
    1. Select Yes to the Delete all user data option using the Home button.
    2. Once the wiping process is complete you will be returned to the Android System Recovery menu.
    3. Select Reboot system now option and wait for your device to reboot.
    The first boot should take some time, but you should have successfully Factory reset / wiped your Samsung Galaxy S II.
