LG Optimus 2X will receive Android 4.0 afterall

The LG Optimus 2X is was the first smartphone to feature a dual-core processor. When LG announced that the device will not be receiving Android 4.0 ICS it left many users disappointed.

It now turns out that LG has gone back on it's initial comment and claims that it was a false rumor. They also claim that they are testing ICS on the Optimus 2X and it will be made available for the high end smartphones on LG's portfolio.

"LG firmly denies the rumours that claim LG will not be providing the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS update for the LG Optimus 2X. These rumours are NOT true. LG is currently in the process of planning the ICS OS update for the LG Optimus 2X as well as other LG high-end smartphones. Detailed information on the ICS OS update schedule for specific models will be announced, once the ICS OS is publicly released by Google. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG."

LG also recently announced that they will be rolling out Android Gingerbread to the Optimus 2X among other devices. It doesn't make sense why LG decided to release Gingerbread without jumping straight to Android 4.0. I hope that they wont take another year before releasing Ice Cream Sandwich for their handsets.
