Is Google stealing our memory

Google is all around us. The company has come up with a service to help us sort through most of our lives. Services like Search, Maps and Google+ take up most of our online time, while their Android smartphone offering which comes with features like Google Wallet and Google Places ensure that we can spend all our time online without leaving the Google domain.

Because we have all these online resources to store our data and to access and draw data from, we are eliminating the need to retain data in our own memory. Instead of looking for what we need in a book we can simply 'Google it' instead.

The folks at OnlineColleges have shared an infographic depicting the Google brain. It compares the good and bad features of using the Google brain instead of our own.

But the problem doesn't stop with storing information. Innovation is the other thing which our world will lack, as we continue to rely on machines. A machine can only give us information and knowledge which has already been fed into it. But relying on machines we are putting an end to innovative thinking and creative ideas which are needed to drive our world forward.
