Skype has released an update for it's Windows version which supports the Windows 8 Developer Preview. This pre-release version of Skype is available for download on the Skype website
Skype has quietly released an update to their client which adds support for Windows 8. The new version (5.5.0.117) can be downloaded from here.
While Microsoft has not officially mentioned Skype as one of the first applications to support it's new platform.
Today we have released an update to Skype 5.5 for Windows.
With this update we have introduced support for Microsoft Windows 8.

Screenshots during the BUILD conference which demonstrated calling features in Windows, lead us to believe that Microsoft has plans to possibly integrate Skype services within the Windows operating system.
Microsoft also has plans for Skype to complement it's Lync messaging software and service accordnig to it's CEO Steve Balmer. Along with other their other services like Windows Phone, Office and XBox.
