Spotify Launches in the U.S.



Spotify, a Swedish-owned online music streaming company has made it's long awaited U.S. debut. The service boasts over 10 million users in Europe and has over 15 million songs in it's catalogue. Being only second to iTunes, Spotify feels it can make it's impression in the U.S. as well and predicts topping it's user base to 50 million in it's first year of service.

Spotify offers a free service alongside it's premium services. With the free version you can browse and stream the library, while the premium service is ad free and features song storage, offline playing amoung other features.

How to get Spotify
Currently the service is available in the U.S. as an invite only beta. Three packages are available to choose from
  • Free Version - The free version allows you access to the full music library. You can synchronize you existing music collection with the Spotify library or mobile device. The free version will feature ads.
  • Unlimited Version - The unlimited version offers all the features of the free version minus the advertising. This version will set you back $4.99 a month.
  • Premium Version - The premium version ads to all the featurs above allowing you to listen to music offline, enhanced audio quality and access to exclusive content. The cost of the premium version with be $9.99 a month.
There is even reports of a collaboration between Spotify and Facebook which will link Facebook's 150 million U.S. user-base with Spotify features like sharing tracks and playlists.

You can also download and access Spotify from your Android and iOS devices.
