The Google Nexus One may be an aging phone, but it's specifications and attractive price still keep it popular. Has Google rectified some of these issues in their Nexus S and upcoming Nexus 3 ? Does anyone share these concerns on your own device? Google if you are looking this one is for you:
20th July 2011, nearly 2 weeks since I started using my Google Nexus One. Shifting from a very simple Nokia 3110c to a android smartphone was a big deal and yes, a big change. So thought I'll jot down a few things I wished Google and HTC thought about before putting this phone out which would have made my life easier.
- HTC should have introduced another means to waking up the phone from sleep mode other than the power button. Right now its on excessive use which is definitely not good.
- I haven't still used the scroll. I don't know if I ever will. It popping out of the phone really ruins the image.
- I wish that the phone key pad with T9 dictionary option was given as a keypad type option when using it vertically without only constraining the user to get used to the QWERTY key pad. Its so frustrating since the android touch technology has some glitches in it that I have reduced the number of text messages I send now.
- I wish I was able to send a business card to another person through SMS.
- I wish I can select the people I want to send a message to and then send it to them or at least create a group.
- I wish there were profiles to switch to according to the environment I am in.
- I wish the battery life lasted for more than a day. Its useless switching 3G to save battery because might as well bought a cheaper phone if I wanted only 2G.
- I wish all the options in the car mode could be operated through voice until the voice command is given to exit car mode.
- I wish there was an easier way of putting a reminder
- I wish I didn't have to slide to answer a call or at least some other mechanism to cut a call.
- I wish that the Google Nexus One had a better screen which didn't entertain so many fingerprint marks on it.
- I wish it would learn new words based on what I type in. The ability to add new words to the system dictionary would probably help.
That's all for now. Will wish more when I get stuck in crucial moments trying to what I could do on my prehistoric phone which my smartphone cant.
