Requirement OS X 10.6.8

If you have purchased a Mac on or After June 6, 2011 you are eligible for a free upgrade to Mac OS X Lion. Users will have to request their up-to-date upgrade within 30 days of the release of OS X Lion (which is today).

Mac OS X was originally released back in 2001 and since then has evolved into a stable and feature rich operating system. While most of the features have already been discussed in previous posts, some new features which will surely get our attention are - LaunchPad, which offers an iOS like home-screen which allows you to view, browse through your apps and even sort them into folders. You can even un-install them as simply as you would on your iOS device. Resume which allows you to continue exactly where you left off even when you shut your computer off. And Autosave which automatically saves the files you are working on without cumbersome notifications.

These are just some of the 250 new features which are apart of this new update. Before updating you will have to make sure you have the latest version of OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8) which you can update using the Software update feature.

If you have an older version of OS X you will first have to update to Snow Leopard before installing OS X Lion. If you are prompted to install a Migration Assistant Update. Please do so before proceeding.
