According to research by Nielsen conducted in the month of June Android has come out as top mobile operating system in the US with a market share of 39 percent. Apple's iOS has gained a market share of 28 percent and is the top smartphone manufacturer in the US.
HTC holds 20 percent of the smartphone market, with 14 percent contributed by Android devices and 6 percent from its Windows Phones. Samsung is in the third with while Motorola is in fourth place.
The others don't seem to be doing very well. RIM has fallen 20 percent while Windows Phone (Windows Phone OS + Windows Mobile) from Microsoft is still at 9 percent. Web OS and Symbian bring up the rear with 2 percent each.
