Apple's cheaper iPhone wont be smaller says New York Times

Bloomberg previously reported that a cheaper iPhone was in the works which would smaller than the current iPhones. This report was seconded by the Wall Street Journal, increasing the chances of this rumor coming to life.

However the New York Times now suggest that while Apple is indeed aiming to build a cheaper iPhone, it is no planning on building a smaller one.

A source has suggested to NYT that the company would steer clear of a smaller device because of the costs to manufacture and developers would have to rewrite their apps to suite smaller screens. Another Apple executive has suggested that it doesnt make sense for Apple to adopt the idea of multiple screen sizes and its likely to stick to its practice of dropping the prices of previous models each time a new iPhone is released.

So do you think there will be a cheaper iPhone? or do you feel Apple will continue its current practice of discounting older units? Share your thoughts below.
