Microsoft updates Windows Phone Store app and web portal

Microsoft has announced a big update to the Windows Phone Store and the store’s web portal. The web portal has been expanded with support for 37 new regions and brings new features which have been missing in the platform. With the new update the Windows Phone store web portal is now available in 112 markets around the world and the Windows Phone Store has reached a total of 191 markets.

Google Maps updated, offers over 25 million building footprints and more

Google has continued improving their Maps application over the past week weeks, in an attempt to make it the best mapping solution in the market. Last week they included thousands of miles of roads for street view, and now they have included over 25 million building footprints which will be available on both mobile and desktop platforms.

These footprints include several major cities like, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami Houston and San Francisco Bay Area. These changes should be apparent in several cities around the US.

[Guide] How to install Google Maps on iOS 6

google-map-web-app-iconOne of the biggest frustration for users of iOS 6.0 and the new Apple iPhone 5 is the Apple Maps application. While the new Maps has features like turn-by-turn navigation and 3D mapping, its missing some must have features like transit routes, walking or biking routes and street view.

Google may have not yet released an app for the Apple App Store you can still get Google Maps on your iOS device. Well sort of.

Microsoft announces Outlook.com webmail

outlook-iconMicrosoft has just launched a completely new web email service called Outlook, which is inspired by Office Outlook and Microsoft’s Metro UI.

The new interface is clean and simple focusing primarily on what matters, your email.

Outlook is a re-imagination of your Hotmail and it is focused on being touch friendly and intends to take on GMail. You can access Outlook by heading over to www.outlook.com and your Hotmail inbox will be transformed into the new interface.

[Android app] Google Wallet updated, brings support for most major credit cards

Google Wallet has been updated and brings support for Visa, American Express and Discover cards in addition to its existing support for Mastercards. Until now Google Wallet only supported Citi Mastercards, but the update allows you to use any debit or credit card that you want.

Amazon Cloud Drive updated

Amazon is making changes to their Amazon Cloud Drive online storage experience. Among those changes will be a reduction in online storage prices and the introduction of new apps for your Windows and Mac OS desktops. Amazon claims that the changes will make it both cheaper and easier than before your store all your important files on your Cloud Drive.

Google Drive coming next week to Android, iOS and Desktop


There are several rumors going around regarding the Google’s upcoming cloud storage, but the latest report suggests that Google Drive may be released as early as next week.

The cloud service is expected to launch for free with 5GB of storage on board. You can opt for storage increments by paying an annual fee. You will be able to access your Google files through native apps on your Android and iOS device. Google is also expected to release apps for both the Mac and Windows platforms similar to Dropbox.

The Google+ website has been updated with a completely new design. The features don't seem to have changed and the design looks to be aimed specifically at a smaller screen which makes us believe that Google+ is getting ready to welcome lower (tablet) resolution displays.

Nokia Maps offline mode available for iOS and Android

One of the features that I really enjoyed on a Nokia device was it's offline maps, and now Nokia is bringing offline maps feature to users who own iOS and Android devices as well through their mobile maps website.

The Nokia Maps mobile site offers iOS and Android users helpful features like Places of Interest, Public transport routes and live traffic information in select cities and countries. It is a great alternative to Google Maps which just started offering an offline version.

Apple's iCloud.com now open to developers

Apple has made icloud.com live and access is available to developers to test the upcoming cloud features that will be a big part of iOS 5 and OS X Lion.
iCloud is built similar to Apple's MobileMe services. Once you login you will be presented with the services available to you and you will notice that iDisk has not been replaced with iWork.

Nokia Maps for Android and iOS

Nokia has made a HTML5 based version of their Ovi Maps which can be used on other mobile platforms even iOS and Android. The reason behind this could be the deal between Microsoft and Nokia where Nokia claims that they will make some of their technologies, including Ovi Maps available to other manufacturers of Windows Phone devices.

How to use uTorrent Remote on your iPhone

BitTorrent is now offering a web based client of their uTorrent Remote app for iPhone users. uTorrent users can now remotely control their downloads from wherever they are with their iPhone. Torrents can be added, paused and removed using an interface with a look and feel identical to that of the uTorrent application.

The web client allows users to access their downloads from anywhere through a secure web interface which can be accessed on web.utorrent.com and users will have to download the latest falcon release of utorrent to be able to use the feature.
