Apple has released the eighth Developer Preview alongside the third Public Beta of Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. The Developer Preview is only available to those registered for Apple's Mac Developer Program, while the Public Beta is available for free to anyone who wants to try out and help test the pre-release of Yosemite.
The Developer Preview is only available at a $99 annual cost through the Mac Developer portal. If you have already signed up for the program, the Developer Preview 8 update to OS X 10.10 Yosemite will be available for download through the Mac App Store or through the Mac Developer Portal. The latest Developer Preview doesn't seem to offer any new features, and is expected to bring the usual bug fixes and performance improvements you would expect on each release.
Apple has also used this opportunity to release a third Public Beta of OS X Yosemite. This release seems to offer the same enhancements developers received in the seventh Developer Preview, including minor adjustments to icons and a new-look Dark Mode. The third beta comes nearly a month after the second public beta was released.

With OS X Yosemite, Apple has made huge changes in the overall design of their desktop platform to make it look more like iOS. You get the same modern colors and flattened visuals which were first introduced on iOS 7.
Apart from the brand new look and feel, OS X Yosemite brings several new features and improvement, which well and truly bridges the gap between iOS and OS X. Among the enhancements is the continuity feature which allows users to continue their desktop tasks on mobile and vice versa.
