Google has just announced that their next version of their mobile platform will be Android 4.4 KitKat. After over a year of speculation that Google will use Key Lime Pie as the title for their next desert, their choice of KitKit comes as a bit of a pleasent surprise.Its interesting that Google has chosen to take a step forward in their desert name, but have kept the Android version as an interaction of the previous build instead of moving to Android 5.0 instead.
While Google has stated that their goal with Android KitKat is to "make an amazing Android experience available for everybody", they have not mentioned any specific Android 4.4 features.

The announcement comes amidst Microsoft stealing the headlines by acquiring Nokia's mobile division. Its clear that Google chose to attempt overshadowing Microsoft's announcement with one of their own.
