The Microsoft Surface Pro was released today as a more powerful alternative to the Microsoft Surface RT. It was assumed that many users would choose to skip the Surface RT in favor of the Surface Pro which features a 10.6-inch touch display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel HD resolution, up to 128GB of internal storage, a full-USB 3.0 port, and is powered by a dual core Intel Core i5 Ivy Bridge processor with 4GB of RAM.Early signs indicate that Microsoft may have been correct, as the 128GB version of the Surface Pro is already sold out at Microsoft’s online stores in the U.S. just hours after being launched.
The 128GB variant is more expensive and costs $999 compared to the 64GB version which costs $100 less. The price doesn’t include the Touch Cover QWERTY keyboard which costs $119.00 more. Users will also have the option of an optional Type cover which has physical keys and costs $10 more.
The device is also reportedly sold out at Staples and Best buy Canada online stores. The 128GB model is still said to be available in Canadian Microsoft Stores for anyone who is still looking for the device. If you are looking for the 128GB model in the U.S. you will have to head over to Best Buy and Staples’ physical stores.
You can still opt to purchase the 64GB version, but you better be quick or those may get sold out as well.
Microsoft was said to have had a million units of the Microsoft Surface RT ready at launch, but only 1 million Surface Pro tablet are said to have been shipped in time for it’s release. Microsoft probably expected the Surface Pro to sell fewer units than the cheaper Surface RT, but the functionality of the Surface Pro was obviously what customers were waiting for.
