[iOS app] Skype updated with Microsoft account support and animated emoticons

Skype for iOS has been updated to version 4.2 and brings several desktop features to the mobile app. The update includes the ability to merge your Skype account with a Microsoft account which will allow you to get in touch with your contacts on Outlook, Messenger and Hotmail. This goes is in line with Microsoft’s decision from earlier this month to discontinue Messenger and move its user base to the Skype platform.

You can download the update directly on your iPhone, iPod Touch the Apple App Store or by using the following link:

Along with the ability to stay in touch with your Outlook, Messenger and Hotmail friends, the Skype 4.2 update for iOS also allows users to sign up for Skype directly from within the application. The update also brings additional emoticons, including animated emoticons which support the Retina display. Users can also tap and hold an instant message to edit it and edit and save a contacts phone number from the Skype dial pad. Along with these features the update also offers several bug fixes and performance improvements.
