Google cancels October 29th event due to hurricane concern

Google’s scheduled Android event for October 29th in New York City has been cancelled as a result of the impending hurricane Sandy. The hurricane is expected to make landfall on Monday and Ne York Governor, Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency in response to the incoming storm. The Google event was set to take place on a waterfront pier which is now an evacuation zone.

This isn't good news for Android fans who have been expecting Google to reveal Android 4.2 along with a new lineup of Nexus devices. At this time it is not known when the event will be rescheduled, but we are sure they wont be too long to get in on the slew of recent announcements by the tech world.

We hope the effects of the hurricane will be minimal and wish all residents in the affected regions to be safe during the storm.

Meanwhile the cancellation would be great news for Microsoft, who have also planned a Windows Phone event for the same day. The Microsoft event will continue as scheduled in San Francisco, and you can follow the story here on our website.
