China Telecom is looking for opportunities to expand it's service to the U.S. in 2012, according to and interview on Bloomberg with Donald Tan, President of China Telecom.China Telecom is state owned telecommunication company. It is the largest fixed line service and the 3rd largest telecommunication provider in China.
The company is planning to launch it's service in select markets in the U.S. and would probably aim at markets with highly populated Asian communities. The service could allow the phones on that network to be used in both China and the U.S. and should appeal to frequent travelers like students or businessmen.
Tests are apparently already being carried out, but pricing has still not been revealed though it is said to be competitive.
