The Sony Smartwatch 3 is the first Android Wear device from Sony, and it is also the first Android Wear device which built in GPS and NFC functionality. While the smartwatch is still listed to be coming soon on Google Play, it is available for preorder through Verizon for $249. The device is set to ship out on October 30.
The LG G Watch and the Motorola Moto 360 are currently receiving software updates which brings a few enhancements while enabling GPS support on Android Wear devices. Given that the Sony Smartwatch 3 is the first with inbuilt GPS support, it will be the first Android Wear device to take advantage of this update.
Other features on the Sony Smartwatch 3 include a 1.6-inch transflective LCD display, for excellent in bright visibility, 4GB of storage, waterproof IP68 (one meter of water for 30 minutes), various movement sensors and a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 512MB of RAM. No heart rate monitor though.
