Viber has released updated versions of their messaging app for the iOS and Android platforms. The update brings a feature which has been in demand for quite some time - video calling for mobile devices. This means that you can now make video calls with your Viber contacts, making the messenger a better competitor to the popular Skype.

Apart from video calling functionality, the Viber app has been treated to an interface overhaul on both iOS and Android. It now has a different, see-through icon set, as well as slightly rounded contact thumbnails. The chat bubbles look slightly different as well. Additionally Viber users can create and send brief video messages, which comprise of an animated avatar and the user's own voice. You can also quickly add a contact in the app by scanning a QR code or by simply adding their phone number in Viber. Similar to Skype, Viber allows you to transfer the video calls in question between your mobile device and the desktop client of the messaging service. On top of that the app is now available in several new languages - Bulgarian, Serbian, and Persian.
