Meizu MX4 officially announced - Flagship device at affordable price, available for pre-order in China

The Meizu MX4 was officially announced today as the company's first octa-core, 4G capable smartphone. The device is currently only available for pre-order in China and there is no information on plans to sell the handset internationally.

The Meizu MX4 features a 4.36 inch display with a 1920 by 1152 pixel resolution, up to 64GB of internal storage, a 3100 mAh battery, and a MediaTek MT6595 octa-core processor with four Cortex-A17 cores, clocked at 2.2 GHz, and four Cortex-A7, clocked at up to 1.7 GHz each. You get a 20.7MP Sony Exmore RS camera with an f/2.2 aperture 0.3-second focus time, a 25 FPS burst shot, and the ability to record 4K videos. Based on the photos, the device may feature a True Tone flash, which should allow more natural color reproduction even with the flash on. Additionally a 2MP front camera from Sony with an f/2.2 aperture will take care of your video calls and selfies.

One the software side, the device is running Android 4.4 KitKat with Meizu's own Flyme 4.0 offering a custom experience for the MX4 users.

The Meizu MX4 is competitively priced at approximately $293 for the 16 GB, $325 for the 32 GB, and $390 for the 64 GB. It will face its biggest challenge in the market from the the recently announced Xiaomi Mi4, which comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor,  3GB of RAM and costs around $10 - $20 more based on the storage tier you select.
