Lenovo is no stranger to the Android ecosystem and have released several Android tablets in the past, But their newest Lenovo TAB S8 which was showcased at IFA 2014 has something special, in the form of an 64-bit Intel (quad-core Atom Z3745) processor inside.
The Lenovo TAB S8 is in fact, the first Android tablet from the company to be powered by an Intel processor. The chip comes with Burst Performance Technology, which provides processing power on demand only, thus successfully saving you some battery juice when you are using the Lenovo Tab S8 for lighter tasks, somewhat similar to ARM's big.LITTLE technology.
The TAB S8 features an 8 inch display with a 1920 by 1200 pixel resolution, 16GB of internal storage, optional 4G LTE connectivity (courtesy of Intel's XMMTM 7160 cellular modem), an 8MP rear camera with a f/2.2 sensor, a 1.6MP front-facing camera and 2GB of RAM which goes along with the quad-core processor. The manufacturer also boasts that the battery of the Tab S8 will keep it ticking for roughly 7 hours.
As per the pricing of the Tab S8, Lenovo says that its newest slate will retail for $199 before taxes and subsidies, making it a noteworthy rival on the tablet market. It will be immediately available through Lenovo and other major retailers.
