[GUIDE] How to install the Nokia X launcher on any Android device


Nokia X
The Nokia X smartphone lineup runs a customized version . Nokia has built a custom user interface which is visually similar to the company's Lumia Windows Phones. The Nokia X devices also offer Nokia and Microsoft services instead of Google's. The following guide will show you how to install the Nokia X launcher to any existing Android device.

[DISCLAIMER] This guide assumes you are an advanced Android user, and that you are fully aware of the risks that come with installing custom ROMs, files on your device. Please note that this website will not be responsible for any loss of data or device malfunction which may occur from incorrectly following this guide. Please proceed at your own risk.

[NOTE] Please make sure you fully backup your device before proceeding with this guide.

[NOTE] This custom Nokia X Launcher for Android has been created by an XDA developer named opssemnik, so all credit goes to him.

[NOTE] In order to be able to flash the Nokia X Launcher on your Android device you will need to have a custom Recovery installed on it.


Flash Nokia X Launcher on Android using CWM Recovery:

These were all the steps that you had to take in order to complete installation using CWM Recovery.
  • Download the Nokia X Launcher zip for Android
  • Connect your device to your computer, then move the file to your Android phone’s internal storage.
  • After the file is copied, disconnect the phone from PC.
    [NOTE] do not unzip the file.
  • Power off your Android device now.
  • Next, boot the phone in CWM custom Recovery Mode.
  • Create a NANDROID Backup for the installed ROM: select ‘backup and restore’, name the file and confirm.
    [NOTE] this will set a restore point for your phone, one that you can use in case the new ROM doesn't boot in normal mode after installation.
  • Now, select ‘install zip from sdcard’, then ‘choose zip from sdcard’ and find the Nokia X Launcher zip file. Confirm the process.
  • After the installation is complete you can return to the main CWM Recovery screen and reboot the phone in normal mode.
  • After the phone is restarted and it boots in normal mode you can go to Launcher Selection menu and set Nokia X Launcher as default. Enjoy!

Flash Nokia X Launcher for Android using TWRP Recovery:
  • Download the Nokia X Launcher zip file for Android devices.
  • Connect the phone to your computer, then move the zip file to your phone’s internal storage.
    [NOTE] after the file is transferred you can disconnect the phone from PC and continue to the next step.
    [NOTE] do not unzip the launched zip.
  • Power off your phone now.
  • Next, boot the device in TWRP custom Recovery Mode.
  • Make a NANDROID Backup of the installed ROM before installing the new Launcher: press Backup, then set a name for the file and confirm process.
    [NOTE] this step sets a restore point for your Android device, one that can be used in case you cannot boot your device in normal mode after flashing the new launcher.
  • Now you flash the new Nokia X Launcher on your device with TWRP:
    [NOTE] press Install, browse the storage for the zip file and Swipe to confirm installation.
  • Return to the main custom TWRP Recovery menu when done installing, then reboot the phone in normal mode.

Your phone will now boot in normal mode and you can start testing the new launcher.
